- Canada is about to launch six new PR (Public Relations) immigration streams in the upcoming week for temporary residents in Canada.
- The Stream opened on Thursday, 6th of May 2021 at 12:00 pm IST.
- The online portal is available currently in the online website of The Government of Canada.
- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), however, were announced already on the pathways on April 14, 2021.
- Canada remains committed to reaching its immigration targets, which is why the immigration department has created these new limited-time streams.

- First three streams will allow 90,000 essential workers and international graduates to get permanent residency status.
- The next three streams shall target the French-speaking immigration candidates.
- These streams were created in an effort for Canada to meet its immigration target of 401,000 new permanent residents in the year 2021.
- Given that travel restrictions limit the flow of newcomers from abroad, the new streams will allow for pathways for temporary residents in Canada to become the permanent residents.
- In a press release following Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino’s address on May 5, IRCC wrote the new pathways to permanent residence recognise Canada’s need for educated and experienced workers on the journey to economic recovery.
- These pathways also attempt to recognise the service of so many essential workers during the COVID-19 outbreak.
- Many of the frontline workers in Canada working during the pandemic are actually the temporary residents.
- To become eligible, the frontline workers such as health care workers and other essential workers need to have one year of full-time work experience in an eligible occupation within the last three years.
- Workers can also become eligible if they have the equivalent part-time experience of atleast 1560 hours.
- It is to make sure that whoever the worker stands under the eligibility criteria must also need to be currently working for an employer in Canada. This could be any occupation. He/she need to have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 4 or more in either English or French, or both.
- The eligibility also demands an intention or atleast a temporary residence proof in any province other than Quebec.
- Make sure that you aren’t deemed inadmissible to Canada for any criminal or medical reasons.
- Check down below the six listed important streams released by Canada Government for their temporary residents:
